One of the actions of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche is to
provide society with qualified human capital in the area of Health Sciences.
For this reason, through its own structure, it wants to stimulate and
promote innovative methodologies in the education and training of both health
and non-health personnel, which result in an improvement in both the quality of
care and patient safety, with a priority focus on the efficiency.
The Center's mission is knowledge management through innovative methodologies aimed at
acquiring specific professional skills in the form of knowledge, abilities,
skills, attitudes and teamwork and developing both translational research and
preventive strategies on health-electronics, dynamizing and promoting
innovative methodologies in the education and training of both health and
non-health personnel, which result in an improvement in both the quality of
care and patient safety, with a priority focus on efficiency.
Corpses voluntarily donated to science, to which new technology has been
incorporated to make them capable of bleeding and breathing, are used by
surgeons around the world to test new surgical techniques. These are some of
the possibilities of the new Cyborg experimental center opened by the Miguel
Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, on the Sant Joan d'Alacant campus
(Alicante), and which has been at the forefront of the world when it comes to
simulating with corpses a surgical intervention in "near real
conditions".
Recreating a living being as real as possible is one of the most innovative
facets of the center, although there are also other leading fields such as the
digitization of health (e-health) and biomedical engineering, in addition to
the possibilities that are opened from The teaching point of view for the
students of the Medicine degree of the UMH.
Turning the province into a true international reference in the field of
health sciences is what the Cyborg project will decisively contribute to, an
Experimental Center of the UMH where students and experts will enhance their
health training as never before perform in Spain and Europe.
